Faculty members and local residents can become programming
instructors! ~A course that solves local issues and challenges the world is finally open~
IRODORI Co., Ltd. (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo), which works with local governments and companies nationwide to create businesses that lead to solving social issues, has launched the Wagamama Lab Certified Facilitator Course in order to solve the fundamental issue of digital human resource development in rural areas. We will be holding a lecture.
In this course, we will introduce design philosophy that utilizes “design thinking” to help solve “one person’s problems” and solve problems for society as a whole, and the MIT App.
You can acquire practical technical skills using Inventor, and those who complete the program will be certified as “Wagamama Lab Certified Facilitators” and will hold programming education courses and classes for children and residents in the community, school, and workplace. It will be possible to do so.
* ■Background for starting the course*
As digital technology rapidly evolves, reform of the education system is required. The government places importance on educating the next generation of children with digital skills and nurturing human resources who can cope with the future. We are also promoting reskilling programs.
However, digital human resources education is lacking, especially in rural areas, and is a serious challenge in many regions. The reason for this is that in rural areas, young people who want to learn digital technology migrate to urban areas due to the limited availability of IT companies and job opportunities. Additionally, there is a lack of infrastructure and specialized teachers to support digital education, making it difficult to ensure the quality of education.
Therefore, IRODORI has decided to offer a course to solve the problem of lack of digital human resources in rural areas of Japan by developing human resources who can provide programming education to children without having specialized technical knowledge.
* ■What is a Wagamama Lab certified facilitator?*
* 1) Become a leader in app development using AI*
Using MIT App Inventor, it is possible to teach the development of applications that work with generative AI and IoT devices without any technical knowledge.
* 2) Ability to conduct problem-solving courses*
You can learn design thinking, STEAM education, and Computational Action, and play an active role as a leader who works with schools and governments to solve local issues.
* 3) Participate in a global community*
You can participate in a community that connects you with friends from all over the world who are taking on the challenge of solving local issues, and you can also be involved in the management of domestic and international competitions.
The Wagamama Lab Certified Facilitator Course provides courses to practice the following abilities:
– Ability to discover and solve problems
– Imagination and innovation ability
– Global communication skills
– Basic knowledge of mathematics, data science, and AI

■What is Wagamama Lab?
Wagamama Lab provides an inquiry learning program that develops the next generation of leaders throughout the region by creating an app that solves the problems of only one person. In collaboration with local governments and schools across the country, 70 students will participate in 2023, and more than 500 students will participate in 2024 as of August.
■What is MIT App Inventor?
MIT App
Inventor is a platform provided by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that allows you to create smartphone applications by combining blocks on a browser. Anyone can develop apps without specialized coding knowledge, and it is used by 21 million users around the world. It is used by more than 19,000 people a year in Japan.
