The Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan has been commissioned by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry for the “Mobility DX Platform Construction and Operation Project”
The Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, a public interest incorporated association, has been commissioned by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to conduct a demonstration and support project for CASE support such as unmanned autonomous driving (mobility DX platform construction and operation project) in 2026. This project aims to strengthen competitiveness through digital transformation (DX) in the global competition facing the Japanese automobile industry, and to develop technologies compatible with unmanned autonomous driving and software-defined vehicles (SDV) from 2030 to 2035. The aim is to popularize and promote it.
Business purpose and background
In recent years, advances in digital technology surrounding
automobiles have brought about major changes in the value chain and industrial structure of the automobile industry, intensifying global competition. In order to respond to this situation, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism have formulated the “Mobility DX Strategy,” which aims to provide concrete measures to help Japan’s automobile industry demonstrate sustainable competitiveness from 2030 to 2035. We are making progress.
The “Mobility DX Platform” that will be launched as part of this project will create a new community where companies, human resources, and information will gather and exchange information. The purpose is to consider the following.
Specific initiatives
1. * Initiatives related to information sharing and collaboration promotion * – We will research and disseminate trends in domestic and international efforts by governments, businesses, research
institutions, etc. related to mobility DX.
–
Holding events and workshops: We will hold events to disseminate information on mobility DX and events for networking among
participants.
2. * Initiatives related to human resource acquisition and development * – “Autonomous Driving AI Challenge 2024” (*) held by this association in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and “Automotive AI Challenge 2024” held by VicOne
Corporation and Mitsubishi Research Institute, Ltd.
CTF Japan” will be publicized.
–
We plan and manage new events related to SDV development (hackathons, workshops, symposiums, etc.) based on recent technical issues related to SDV development.
–
In addition to creating new learning courses that can develop skills related to mobility DX, we will also create a page listing the learning courses on the platform homepage to improve the convenience of the courses.
3. * Initiatives related to consideration of new initiatives * –
It is expected that various issues and policy needs will emerge regarding mobility DX in the future. We will create and operate a forum for discussion (assuming face-to-face meetings) to consider new initiatives for which such existing projects do not exist.
Through this platform, the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan will continue to support the digital transformation of the Japanese automobile industry and promote initiatives to achieve sustainable growth in global competition.
“Mobility DX Platform” Launch Event
The “Mobility DX Platform” launch event will be held in mid-October. At this event, Chairman Nakafuku of the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan will provide an explanation of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s Mobility DX Strategy, as well as specific details regarding this project. There will also be a panel discussion with key figures from industry, academia and government, and discussions will take place from multiple perspectives on the latest mobility technology.
This event will also be broadcast online and can be accessed in real time by a wide range of participants from Japan and abroad. In addition, the latest competitions such as the “Autonomous Driving AI Challenge 2024” held by the Society will be introduced, and
discussions on technological innovation for the future mobility society will be promoted.
Please note that the association will issue a new release on September 20th (Friday) regarding the detailed content of this event, including attendees, and how to respond to interviews.
