We believe that by working together with local junior high and high school students and their alumni to revitalize the local area through the power of music, we will help revitalize the community. This activity is supported by donations from Uchida Yoko Co., Ltd. as a social contribution activity. Learning from the experience in Noto Town, we hope to continue holding the “Noto Reconstruction Support Tour (noto-on)” in other
disaster-affected municipalities with local residents. The event will be held in Noto Town, Ishikawa Prefecture, and we plan to have participants from Ishikawa Prefecture and other areas of the Noto Peninsula.
Although the recovery from the Noto Peninsula Earthquake has only just begun, including the restoration of infrastructure for daily life, we hope to cheer up the local residents by supporting the energetic music of lively young people. I thought about this and planned this project.

In 2003, Tohoku is full of energy, the five elements of nature: earth, water, fire, wind, and sky.
Taking this into consideration, TEN-CHI-JIN was formed in Akita. The leader is JIRO, the drummer of the legendary band “Off Course” who successfully held a live performance for 10 days at Budokan. OMA. After reaching the top of the Japanese music scene, JIRO returned to their hometown of Akita and began searching for new ways to create music. At this time, I met HIRO, a genius Tsugaru shamisen player living in Iwate.
KUROSAWA. He has won the highest award in the Tsugaru shamisen world, the Nitabo Award, three times in a row, and is a unique talent known as a “genius.”
I want to connect heaven, earth, and people through the “spirit” contained in my sounds, and bring energy to an exhausted society. Based on that wish, the two hit it off and formed a drum and Tsugaru shamisen unit.
Formed “TEN-CHI-JIN” and started performing live activities based in Tohoku. Since then, he has performed many times overseas, including in the United States, Spain, France, Germany, and Taiwan, and has been featured on overseas media.
It has been highly praised as high-quality JAPAN ROCK by the media. The genius HIRO tried his hand at playing the electric shamisen from an early age, and has continued to amaze audiences by perfecting innovative playing methods and setups that make one think of a rock guitarist.
JIRO can freely play Japanese and Western beats. And HIRO is challenging himself with unprecedented playing techniques and range. The two effortlessly transcend genres such as rock and jazz, skillfully depicting the entire natural world and the human psyche with clear melodies and advanced techniques.
Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, we have been actively supporting the reconstruction of Tohoku, and have played the role of a messenger for Tohoku.
TEN-CHI-JIN’s representative song is “human
being”. This song, which depicts the deep sense of loss faced by humanity, has been performed as a “prayer song” since the
earthquake, but in the fall of 2016, it was reborn as a song of new hope, “Mirai~Human”.
It was re-recorded as “Being” and included on the new album “PLANET”.
[About Necchu Elementary School and Necchu Gakuen]
The Necchu Elementary School project, which started in 2015, works closely with local governments to promote new learning and practice rooted in the community at 13 schools in Japan and one overseas. As of August 2024, more than 1,000 people of all ages, men and women, are taking classes from more than 350 volunteer teachers and are working to develop leaders of regional revitalization. In order to plan, continue, and grow this entire project, we established Necchu Gakuen, a general incorporated association, in March 2019.
