Hachimanbori Festival 2024
*~Townscape and lights~ YOASOBI stroll*
This year’s Hachimanbori Festival will be held from October 12th (Saturday) to October 26th (Saturday)!
During the period, Hachimanbori Takeyagura will be lit from 17:00 to 21:00. During the stamp rally that you can enjoy during the event, there will be a lottery at Hakuunkan, the finish line! Win special products from Omihachiman!
On the first day, October 12th, even beginners can participate in the “Create Your Own Bamboo Lantern Workshop”. The works created will be exhibited at Hakuunkan in conjunction with the Hachimanbori Festival. Participation is free for elementary school students, so please apply if accompanied by a guardian.

Night of the 12th, 17:00 ~ Akindo Shopping Street JAZZ
The light-up opening will be lively with live performances, galapon raffles, treasure hunts, and more. Original paper lanterns made from Omihachiman’s water town reeds and Omi beef leather will be displayed at several locations in the shopping district, so be sure to look for them!
On October 19th (Saturday), approximately 4,000 lights will illuminate the old town and Hachimanbori area. On the day of the event, various lights will be used to create a fantastical view of Hachimanbori and the townscape, including the nighttime hours of the marche and nearby stores, and special events.
From 15:00 to 17:00, participants from 5 years old to 6th grade of elementary school can participate in “lantern making” for a participation fee of 500 yen, which includes a ticket that can be used at the night market in Tefu Tefu Shopping District! Approximately 10 “Kodomo Marche” stores, where children are the main characters, will be open at Hakuunkan from 14:00 to 17:00. In addition, a marche is held from 17:00 to 20:30 at the plaza in front of the gate of Himurei Hachimangu Shrine.
For adults, there is also a project that you can enjoy: Shiga Sake 31 Sake Brewery Gathering! How about relaxing and comparing foods in an old folk house? Set of 2 to 5 types (chocolate size x 5 cups) from 1,000 yen, snack set that goes well with local sake from 500 yen, restaurant.
You can enjoy it at Waden (0748-32-8817) from 17:00 to 20:00 on the 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th, and 26th with no registration required! On the final day, October 26th (Saturday), we will meet at Hakuunkan at 11 o’clock in the historical drama town of Omihachiman!
If you come in Japanese attire, you will receive special benefits at participating stores. We are looking for hospitality staff, enjoy a stroll in retro-modern kimono rentals, stop by the night marche, and over the next two weeks there will be plenty of events to fully enjoy Omihachiman.
