[International College of Music, Dance and Entertainment] Video design students demonstrate projection mapping, a new challenge to add color to the area
Students from the Visual Design Department of the NSG Group’s International College of Music, Dance, and Entertainment participated in the Niigata Prefectural Techno School’s “Summer Summer Event” held on Friday, September 13th and Saturday, September 14th, 2024. We presented our projection mapping work at “Collaboration of Technology and Art”.
This event is an annual cool-down event held by Niigata Prefectural Techno School for users and local residents. Various work experiences and exploration sessions were held, and the venue, the Techno School, was also decorated with illuminations.
During this event, students from our school’s video design department demonstrated projection mapping works using the techniques they had learned in their regular classes, under the supervision of the video company Solmediae Co., Ltd.
In our school’s video design department, students comprehensively learn about shooting, editing, distribution, CG technology, etc., with the aim of acquiring a wide range of skills in video production. This time, we have been preparing since spring as part of a curriculum in collaboration with Solmediage Co., Ltd., and a project that also has the meaning of contributing to the local community.
This year’s projection mapping featured a variety of works themed around local landscapes and nature.
In particular, videos with motifs of nature and landscapes rooted in the region, such as the Nagaoka fireworks that symbolize Niigata, frogs flying around in a field, and jellyfish floating in the Sea of Japan, were projected onto the Techno School building.
Children could be seen having fun following the projected works, and it was an opportunity for many people who visited the venue to have fun. It was also an opportunity for our students to become more conscious of contributing to the local community.
We will continue to expand our opportunities to contribute to the local community and collaborate with specialized companies to continue providing education that fosters the creative abilities of our students.
We will hone students’ skills and creativity and develop projects that add color to the region.
