The executive committee (operated by NibLinks Co., Ltd., tournament executive committee chairperson: Teru Yakushiji) is hosting the Oman Golf Trophy 2024, the first Japanese qualifying round since the establishment of the global amateur golf tournament Oman Golf Trophy. The Japan representative deciding match is being held at Pacific clubs across the country over a period of four days and at four venues. The first qualifying round was held on August 29, 2024 (Thursday) at the Taiheiyo Gotemba West Course, and the second qualifying round was held at the Taiheiyo Club Arima Course on September 9, 2024 (Monday). The third qualifying round will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Taiheiyo Club Sano Hillcrest Course.
It has been decided that Cocorico Endo Shozo will participate in this third qualifying round.
This tournament will feature competitions in three categories: the Wild Card Division, the Under Handicap Division, and the Challenge Division, in which competitions will be held using handicap indexes (WHS Index published by JGA). The Oman Golf Trophy is the world amateur golf tournament that has been held since 2023 as part of the Oman Vision 2040, an economic initiative spearheaded by the Oman government under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan of Oman, His Majesty Haitham bin Tariq. It’s a tournament. The first tournament was held in Italy with a qualifying round, in which 900 amateur golfers participated, and at the grand finale held in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, 14 elite players competed for the championship.
Following the success of the first tournament, it has been decided that the final of the second tournament will be held in December 2024 at Oman’s world-famous golf course, Al Mouj Golf. Preliminary rounds will be held at 80 venues around the world from April to October 2024, with a total of 7,400 amateur golfers competing for the right to participate in the final tournament. It is a global amateur golf event where prominent business figures and media personnel from
participating countries are invited to Muscat for the finals.
