New road surface measurement device unveiled at Highway Techno Fair 2024! *TONOX, which has the No. 1 ability in road surface measurement, has developed a new device*
Tonox Co., Ltd., a vehicle body manufacturer and special vehicle body manufacturer, will be holding the Highway Techno Fair 2024 (booth), which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight on Thursday, September 26th and Friday, September 27th, 2024 from 10:00 to 17:00. Number: B-023 We would like to inform you that we will be exhibiting at Tokyo Big Sight West Hall 2).
Tonox Co., Ltd. manufactures vehicle bodies and mounts specially equipped vehicles on a site of 46,000 square meters.
At our Yokohama and Hiratsuka factories in Kanagawa Prefecture, and our Kikugawa Factory in Shizuoka Prefecture, we manufacture over 3,000 vehicles a year, from light passenger cars to large vehicles such as buses and trucks. We are also focusing on the field of instrumentation systems that contribute to the maintenance and safety of roads and tunnels, developing road surface property measurement systems and tunnel lining surface measurement systems using lasers, and applying them to measurement vehicles and land rail vehicles. We are doing bodywork. We also provide measurement services for road tunnels, analysis of road surface properties, tunnel lining surfaces, and computerization services.
At Highway Technofair 2024, we will exhibit new equipment that utilizes consistent technology from system design and development to analysis. Please come and see us at the venue.
1. handy profiler
Tx-HandyProfiler
Tx-HandyProfiler can measure pavement profiles continuously and with high precision at normal walking speeds. The measurement principle is a method that uses a built-in IMU sensor to detect the slope of the front and rear wheels that are in contact with the road surface. This measurement method is very similar to the dipstick used in leveling, so it can be said to be an extremely reliable method. Masu. The measurement accuracy of this product has been approved by NEXCO’s “Road Profiler Performance Verification Method.” It can be used to measure the progress of pavement work at NEXCO.
In addition, it has a total weight of approximately 20 kg and is foldable, making it convenient to carry. Measured results can be checked immediately on a locally mounted PC. You can quickly check the actual item. This enables long-distance measurement of approximately 2.5 km in one measurement. The battery is a miniaturized lithium ion battery that allows long-term measurements of more than 5 hours. The battery is removable, so charging is easy.
2. TX-IRI
Tx-IRI (vehicle mounted)
Tx-IRI (installed in Great Star Japan Co., Ltd.’s automatic marking robot)
Tx-IRI is the industry’s first road profiler that can be installed under the floor of any vehicle. Two laser displacement meters and an IMU sensor are built into the sensor box, which detects the slope of the road surface with high accuracy. At the same time, the vehicle position is detected by inputting GNSS data and vehicle speed pulses. Through software processing, profiles and IRIs linked to positioning coordinates and distance data can be calculated. This product has been approved as a new technology utilization system by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s Technical Review Committee, and is listed in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s “Inspection Support Technology Performance Catalog.” This time, we installed it on Great Star Japan Co., Ltd.’s automatic marking robot, which enables automatic measurement.
*What is IRI?
It expresses the degree of unevenness of a road surface as a numerical value, and is an evaluation method proposed by the World Bank. By clearly displaying this IRI on a map, paved sections and unpaved road sections that require road improvement can be understood at a glance, which is an important criterion for formulating future road improvement and maintenance management plans. It will be.
3.3D Profiler
3D profiler (when using actual product)
3D Profiler (Highway Techno Fair exhibit)
By mounting a removable sensor unit on the rear of the vehicle’s roof, it is possible to simultaneously acquire road surface images and 3D images while driving. Inside the sensor unit, a laser device that emits a line across the road surface and a 3D camera are built-in, and it is possible to obtain a brightness image using laser reflected light from the road surface and a 3D image using a light cutting method. The sensor unit is portable, and if your vehicle has a roof carrier, you can install it yourself in a short time and take measurements immediately. The 3D Profiler will be exhibited for the first time at Highway Techno Fair 2024.
-Comment from product development manager-
Tonox Co., Ltd. Instrumentation Division Manager Naohiko Hatami Up until now, many vehicles equipped with our measurement equipment have been manufactured as special-purpose vehicles, but IRI and 3D profilers can be installed and used not only in special-purpose vehicles but also in all types of vehicles. Masu. Additionally, since it can be transported as a component, it can be installed and used immediately after transport.
