Experience gentle zazen at a temple nestled in nature at the foot of Mt. Fuji
Generally speaking, zazen has an image of formality and strict etiquette, but in this experience, you can easily experience the world of “Zen” in a relaxed atmosphere.
First, after explaining the overall process, we will do some easy work to harmonize the body and mind, and then practice zazen for about 15 minutes. If you find it difficult to cross your legs, you can sit cross-legged or use a seated chair. Zazen, also known as “Kikaonza,” is not an ascetic practice of enduring pain, but is the practice of returning to the calm place of one’s “body and mind,” and sitting calmly. By adjusting your body through work, your breath and mind will naturally quiet down, allowing you to enjoy a deeper zazen experience.
A spa treatment that will envelop you in a meditation-like comfort. For an even deeper sense of relaxation and purification, the Honzazen experience combines over 60 minutes of spa treatments offered at the hotel’s Omika Wellness & Spa. You can choose from 13 different treatment menus, so you can enjoy a relaxing moment tailored to your preferences.
A particularly recommended menu is the “Gemstone Crystal Massage,” which has a strong healing effect and aims to further open up the mind and body. Using four gemstones from the American luxury spa brand ISUN and herbal oils that respond to their vibrations, we will deepen the harmony of body and mind.
We also offer a blissful treatment menu tailored to your preferences and condition, including our signature menu “Green Tea Pure Ritual,” which uses herbal balls and tea oil made with tea leaves from Shizuoka Prefecture.

After your spa treatment, stop by Fuji Omikami Onsen, located in the same building. In the large communal bath with a semi-open-air bath, you can enjoy the hotel’s own sulfate spring water pumped from 1,500 meters underground, along with a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji. The quality of this spring is expected to have a beautifying effect on your skin, and it will warm you from the core of your body, allowing you to enjoy a special retreat wrapped in the energy of the sacred Mt. About Hokyoji Temple
Daiyuzan Hokyo-ji Temple, located in Oyama Town in eastern Shizuoka Prefecture, is a historic temple with a history of about 680 years, since it was renamed Hokyo-ji Temple in 1345 and moved to its current location. In 1985, the main image of the temple, the Enmei Jizo Bosatsu statue, was designated as a prefectural cultural property, and its historical value is widely recognized.
