*AI tool adoption status and skill acquisition trends for over 5,400 people in 9 regions around the world*
Advances in AI technology are dramatically changing the way young people view life and build their careers. Instead of being tied to traditional career paths and learning methods, people are looking for new ways to acquire skills. In particular, while AI-based learning is rapidly becoming popular, there is also a need for connections with people and face-to-face learning.
In response to these changes, * One-on-one English conversation private lessons * or * offering private Korean lessons *
conducted a survey around the world on the aspirations and learning habits of the generation living alongside AI.
What do young people who are familiar with AI consider important as their goals in life? Also, from a global perspective, are they proactive in introducing AI tools? And how do you utilize AI to your advantage?
The survey was conducted among approximately 5,400 working-age people between the ages of 18 and 43 in nine regions: Europe, Asia, North America, and South America.
Summary of survey results
– Young Japanese people place the highest importance on “financial stability” as a goal in life.
– In Japan, people tend to prefer “time spent on their hobbies” over “time spent with family and friends,” which is rare in the world.
–
The adoption of AI tools among Generation Z and Millenials in Japan is slower than in other countries, with the global average of 54.5% of young people using AI tools, compared to 41.0% in Japan.
– 22% of Gen Z and Millennials are working on learning AI-related skills. –
While language learning using AI is becoming more common, only 7% of people actually prefer learning using AI. On the other hand, it is clear that 12% of people prefer practical learning.
* “Economic stability” is the top priority across generations and regions* According to a survey of Gen Z and Millennials around the world, 61% listed “financial stability” as one of their goals in life. This number was 24 points higher than the next most popular responses, “spending time with friends and family” and “improving physical health.” In particular, in Argentina, Japan, and South Korea, “financial stability” is most important, with 64% of Millennials in Japan outnumbering 59% of Gen Z.
Furthermore, a characteristic of Japanese young people is that they tend to prioritize “time spent on their own hobbies” over “time spent with family and friends.” This is a rare result worldwide, and suggests that Japan’s Generation Z and Millennials have different values from those in other countries and tend to value their personal time.

ChatGPT was released to the public in November 2022, but surprisingly, 54% of the 5,000 people surveyed are already actively using AI. Among Gen Z, this percentage reached 59%, higher than the 50% of
Millennials. Notably, Turkey is the fastest adopting AI, with 61% of respondents already using the technology. Spain, Poland and Argentina follow suit with high adoption rates.
On the other hand, South Korea, Germany, and Mexico have moderate usage rates at 54%, 53%, and 52%, respectively. Surprisingly, the United States (46%) and Japan (41%) emerged as the countries least likely to adopt AI tools. This trend is expected to accelerate in the future, with 44% of those surveyed saying they are using AI technology more actively than last year.
*22% of young people are actively learning AI-related skills* Although Gen Z tends to be more active in using AI than Millennials, we found that both generations are equally motivated to develop AI-related skills to improve their work skills. Ta. These skills are acquired through lessons and self-study. Currently, 22% of Gen Z and Millennials are learning AI-related skills as part of their
professional development, making this skill the second most popular after language learning.
Q:

* Growing interest in foreign language learning *
It was revealed that 73% of those surveyed knew at least one foreign language in addition to their native language. However, only 42% of Americans and 46% of Japanese can speak another language. As expected, English is the most widely spoken additional language, but there are regional exceptions, such as South Korea, where 38% of people tend to speak Japanese.
Currently, 53% of people are learning a foreign language, with Turkey (73%) and Poland (67%) particularly motivated to broaden their horizons by learning a new language. Additionally, we found that 43% of people learning a language engage in the activity at least once a week, and more than 1 in 10 Gen Zers practice their language skills every day. These data show that young people are active in learning foreign languages.
*Only 7% of people prefer learning using AI, while 12% prefer practical learning*
“Doing things” is attracting attention as the most popular learning method. According to the survey, 26% of respondents said “by doing” was their favorite way to learn. In particular, in Poland, 39% of students place importance on “learning by doing,” while in South Korea, the percentage is lower at 12%, indicating a tendency to avoid practical learning.
Online video viewing and one-on-one private lessons are also highly valued in many regions, with private lessons being particularly popular in Turkey and South Korea. Interestingly, despite the growing adoption of AI skills in the workplace, only 7% of people overall prefer learning using AI tools. However, in Germany, 12% said they prefer learning with AI tools, showing a more positive attitude towards AI learning than in other countries.
