Wearing Kariyushi wear at the parliament to promote the 50th anniversary of the sister city partnership with Okinawa City
The Toyonaka City Council will hold a meeting on the second day of the September 2020 regular meeting on Wednesday, September 25th, in order to promote exchanges with Okinawa City, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its sister city relationship on November 3rd (holiday). Toyonaka city council members, the mayor, and other executives will attend the plenary session wearing Kariyushi wear. This is the third time this initiative has been held, following the September 2020 and June 2020 regular meetings.
Okinawa City and Okinawa City entered into a sister city relationship in 1974, and have deepened their friendship in various fields such as culture, sports, and education. As November 3, 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the sister city partnership, Kariyushi wear, which has become a staple of summer formal wear in Okinawa Prefecture, will be worn at the plenary session to promote the exchange between the two cities.
Chairman of the Toyonaka City Council, Masa Imamura, said, “This year marks the 50th anniversary of the sister city partnership with Okinawa City.Following the regular meeting in June, the councilors and executives will wear Kariyushi wear at the regular meeting in September. “I would like to promote the friendly relationship between our two cities to the citizens, and also enliven the Toyonaka Festival in October and the commemorative ceremony in November,” he said. *Summary of the second day of the September regular meeting* Date and time: Wednesday, September 25, 2020, opening at 10:00 a.m. Location: Toyonaka City Hall, Assembly Building, Conference Hall *Wearing Kariyushi wear is optional.
