Specifically, through this project, we will develop a 100kg class satellite launch vehicle (TRL7 completed). The system will be reusable and upgradable. We will also jointly consider matters necessary for commercialization, such as improving maintainability for reuse operations and considering insurance, with partner companies. Demonstration flights will be conducted through the subsidy project, and after the subsidy project, efforts will be made to overcome the issues necessary for commercialization and social implementation will be accelerated.

On the other hand, at present, Japan has not yet developed a space transportation business in the private sector, with the exception of core rockets developed by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). In recent years, several start-up companies have been born taking on the challenge of space transportation, and funding, government procurement, and JAXA are needed to support the
commercialization and success of excellent start-up companies. Technical support from the government and institutional support from related ministries and agencies are now needed.
For this reason, the government will support startup companies that will develop and conduct flight demonstrations of internationally competitive rockets, targeting fiscal year 2027.
