◆ Overview National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City, President: Yasutomo Nasu) will hold the 65th Six National Universities Presidents Conference and the 41st Six National Universities Collaboration Consortium Council on September 6, 2024. A joint meeting was held face-to-face in the first conference room on the 6th floor of the Okayama University main building.
The Council of Presidents of Six National Universities is made up of Chiba University, Niigata University, Kanazawa University, Okayama University, Nagasaki University, and Kumamoto University, all of which were former public medical universities, and has expanded its loose collaboration to a comprehensive level. In order to further deepen the strong cooperative relationship, the “Agreement on Comprehensive Collaboration among Six National Universities” was concluded on March 6, 2013, and a six-university collaboration consortium was
established. We are engaged in various collaborative projects in various fields.
First, Moritomo, Deputy Director-General of the Cabinet Secretariat (in charge of the Higher Education Bureau) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, provided information on “recent trends surrounding higher education,” and discussed the state of support and issues related to the development of doctoral course personnel and global human resources. A
question-and-answer session was held on topics such as the decline in research capacity at university hospitals and how to respond to work style reforms.
Next, we exchanged opinions on efforts to strengthen graduate school research capabilities, elected the Director of the Educational Collaboration Organization and the Director of the Public Relations Collaboration Organization, and reported on the efforts of each collaboration organization.
After the conference, the participants presented the cryo-electron microscope “Krios G4” (300 yen kV, Thermo Fisher Co., Ltd.) and its demonstration, and then visited Okayama University Co., Ltd., a wooden building using cutting-edge construction methods using wooden CLT panels, built under the supervision of architect Kengo Kuma, a special guest professor at Okayama University. They toured the Educational Co-Creation Commons (OUX) and had a lively question and exchange of opinions.
Please look forward to the continued efforts of Okayama University, a regional core and distinctive research university.
