[Takumi Insight] 2024 World Robot Competition (WRC)
Jansin Japan Co., Ltd. Press release: September 25, 2024 [Takumi Insight] 2024 World Robot Competition (WRC) Summary of “2024 World Robot Competition (WRC) Special Report” The World Robot Conference (hereinafter referred to as WRC), held in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone from August 21 to 25, 2024, is the largest robot industry conference in China and serves as an international technology exchange platform. It appears that they play an important role. This year’s WRC was jointly sponsored by the Institute of Electronics Engineers of China and the World Robotics Cooperation Organization (WRCO). With the theme of “Sharing the “Sharing of Innovation”, we have achieved great results in promoting the fusion of technological innovation and industrial innovation.

These are
“diversification of humanoid robots, including non-humanoid ones, and price declines”, “interregional collaboration and competition in robot research and development”, and “the steadily advancing search for consumer application scenarios”. While the price of humanoid robots has gradually declined, we have also seen an increase in diversification into non-humanoid or semi-humanoid robots. We can also see that companies in each region are collaborating to form industrial chains, with increasing mobility. Furthermore, we can see that robots have begun to pursue the essence of robots for consumers as well, and have begun to explore applications more steadily.

While the hardware has high performance and is cost effective, there are issues with the generalization ability of the software. Incorporating powerful, general-purpose, large-scale AI models is key to improving the generalization capabilities of robots. Under these circumstances, China’s robot industry is becoming more globalized, and if the quality of its products and application practices are sufficient, it is thought that it has the potential to create greater added value worldwide than in China.
