We operate places such as the online free school “clulu”. Kirin no Ie, a children’s cafeteria operated by our organization, held an exchange event with Singapore Airlines on Thursday, September 19, 2024, with the theme of “food security.” As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, Singapore Airlines holds events in which Singapore Airlines employees engage in various local volunteer activities in more than 50 cities around the world, in line with the idea of contributing to the communities in which it serves. This exchange event is one of them. Ten employees from Singapore Airlines, including Kansai Airport Branch Manager Joanna Lee, were in attendance on the day. The children learned about Singapore’s culture and Singapore Airlines’ job descriptions, did activities using tablets, and enjoyed communicating with Singapore Airlines members. This year’s theme is “Food Security.” In the second half of the event, Singapore Airlines members and children gathered around the table and sampled in-flight meals such as chicken rice and satay. Surrounded by the aroma of Singaporean cuisine, you can experience a different culture while enjoying a meal, and it truly reflects Singapore Airlines’ desire to “help people learn about Singapore and Singapore Airlines by holding events” and “to give back to the regions we serve.” It was a warm time. In addition, “Kirin no Ie” would like to thank Singapore Airlines for the development of the local gourmet “Izumisano Gyoza,” which they have been working on since last year as an activity of “Coccha,” an independent experience project run by junior high school students who attend children’s cafeterias. I was introduced to “Izumisano Gyoza” and had the opportunity to sample the “Izumisano Gyoza.” The children seemed very happy, and we received many compliments, such as, “This is the most delicious thing I’ve eaten since coming to Japan!”

To express our gratitude for their tremendous support, we have presented a letter of appreciation to Singapore Airlines.

I got a lot of correct answers and was able to receive Singapore Airlines merchandise. I would like to fly on Singapore Airlines someday. ・I was really happy when I had people try Izumisano Gyoza and say, “It’s really delicious!” I would like to make Izumisano Gyoza a local delicacy that will be included in in-flight meals someday. This was our second exchange event with Singapore Airlines, and this time too they provided in-flight meals, making it a valuable opportunity for the children to experience Singapore. We were able to reaffirm the happiness and importance of sitting around the table with others, which is the role of a children’s cafeteria, and I feel that this also led to nutritional education for the children. In addition to holding events, we also donated food and daily necessities to Community Fridge Izumisano, which enabled us to enhance our support for families with children who are struggling with the need to eat. Thank you very much for your continued and warm support. I sincerely hope that such opportunities for exchange will continue in the future. We provide a place to stay after school for children who are facing difficulties, and provide them with meals, the establishment of study and lifestyle habits, and opportunities for hands-on experiences. At the same time, we will work with schools, local communities, and specialized organizations to serve as a hub for a “local child-rearing community where no one will be left behind.” There are currently 233 locations nationwide.
