We announced in our newsletter on April 23 of this year that we would be increasing the rate in stages. *2 We will report on the month’s progress in the Monthly Pet Report news release. The percentage of babies 60 days or older in our transactions was 15.9% as of March of this year, prior to the start of this initiative, but this increased significantly to 66.3% in August. We will continue with this initiative, and by the end of February 2025, we plan to have a 100% transaction ratio for both puppies and cats that are 60 days or older. Please see the newsletter dated August 7th for details on the reasons why we are voluntarily raising the transaction age standards and our system for ensuring health management and compliance. *3 *2: News release issued on April 23, 2024 *3: News release issued on August 7, 2024 ■Pet treatment in August 2024 and whereabouts of recovered pets To achieve zero fatalities, it is essential not only to prevent diseases, but also to save the lives of sick pets through veterinary medicine. In such cases, our group provides treatment at the Wellness Management Center and Pets First Animal Hospital, and in August, 29 pets were restored to health. After a sufficient period of recuperation, recovered pets are welcomed to P’s-first or Pet Care & Adoption Center Nikko, our group’s care facility, to an understanding person. Below is an example of a pet that recovered after treatment. [Hypoglycemia/Treatment at Tokyo Medical Center within the Wellness Management Center]

It appeared that he had become hypoglycemic due to diarrhea, so they gave him glucose to drink as an emergency measure and took him to the medical center. Also, since it was early in the morning, the veterinarian hadn’t come to work yet, so a nurse kept him warm until he went to work. After that, I was treated with an intravenous drip and an anthelmintic drug because I had a gastrointestinal parasite called Giardia. He has now recovered well and is looking for his family at the store. The longer the hypoglycemia continues, the worse the condition will become. I was able to recover because the management staff and nurses noticed my problem right away and took appropriate measures.

Such pets will be transferred while being cared for at Pet Care & Adoption Center Nikko. In August 2024, we were able to find foster parents for nine pets who understood their symptoms and personalities. We would like to introduce messages received from foster parents and comments from the veterinarian who was in charge of treatment. When we actually went to meet him, he seemed a little cool, and we felt like he had a personality that suited our lifestyle, so we welcomed him. We decided to adopt Mugi because it was easy to talk to the staff at the center who was taking care of him and the
veterinarian who was examining Mugi. I had him rest in a cage for about two weeks after we got him, but perhaps because he has gained strength, he is now doing well and can run around the house without disrupting his breathing. He always followed us and before we knew it, he was sleeping next to us and became a spoiled child. I accept that having a chronic illness is part of the child’s individuality. Not only Mugi, but all the children at the center were also cute and seemed to be in good spirits. I think it would be nice to have a child who can play with Mugi, so I’m planning to bring Mugi to Pet Care & Adoption Center Nikko again next time!

Since then, medical treatment has been attempted, but there was no complete recovery. However, Mugi-kun doesn’t seem to be particularly concerned and has no health problems, so we looked for foster parents who would understand Mugi’s condition, and he was adopted by a very nice family, which made it very difficult for us as well. I feel so happy. At the Wellness Management Center, she was a very spoiled child and played a lot when we went outside, so I hope she will have fun and be happy every day.
Currently, at Pet Care & Adoption Center Nikko, in addition to pets that require care, we are also looking for foster parents for rescued dogs and cats taken in from health centers, etc., and pets that have been given up due to unavoidable circumstances. By finding a family that will give them long-term love as soon as possible, and supporting their pet life after that, we will be responsible for all the pets our group deals with, without exception. .
