Mingaku announces joint research with Sapporo International University Yasui Laboratory on the use of generative AI in educational settings Mingaku Co., Ltd. (Mekuro-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Yuta Sato), which develops educational services with the theme of education x generative AI, is collaborating with Sapporo International University (Sapporo, Hokkaido, President: Yasuyuki Kurama) to develop educational services in educational settings. We are announcing the start of joint research on AI utilization. This research will revolve around the following two projects. 1. Development of training package for teachers Utilizing Mingaku’s “School AI,” a platform for creating educational apps that utilize generative AI, we will develop a training package aimed at improving teachers’ literacy regarding generative AI. Through this, it is expected that teachers will be able to effectively utilize generative AI technology in educational settings and acquire the skills to support individual learning of students. 2. Research and development of generated AI content for moral education Utilizing the knowledge of Associate Professor Masaki Yasui, an expert in moral education, we will work on research and development of new moral education content using generative AI. By providing customized content according to the developmental stage of students, we aim to improve the quality of moral education and make education more effective. ■ Background and purpose Rapidly evolving AI technology is also bringing major changes to the education field. In particular, generative AI has the potential to provide personalized learning experiences tailored to each student’s needs. However, teachers need sufficient literacy and skills to utilize this technology effectively. In addition, in moral education, there is a need to develop flexible teaching materials that are appropriate for the growth stage of students. Against this background, Mingaku Co., Ltd. and Sapporo International University Yasui Laboratory have begun joint research to explore the possibility of using generative AI in educational settings. Through two projects: developing a training package for teachers and developing generative AI content for moral education, we aim to concretely demonstrate how AI can be useful in educational settings. ■ Future developments In the future, based on the results of the joint research, we plan to provide training packages and moral education content that utilize generative AI to educational institutions and schools.
