To resolve issues in conflict areas and realize a “well-being society.” The certified NPO Terra Renaissance (Chairman: Mai Yoshida, location: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, hereinafter referred to as Terra Renaissance) is implemented by Deloitte Tohmatsu Group (CEO: Kenichi Kimura, head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo,
hereinafter referred to as Deloitte Tohmatsu). We received a matching donation in our efforts during Donation Month (December 1st to December 28th, 2023). This donation is part of Deloitte Tohmatsu’s efforts to realize a “well-being society.”

Deloitte Tohmatsu aims to build a “well-being society”*1 and is strengthening initiatives that lead to the creation of social value. As part of this, we conducted a campaign aimed at supporting the activities of multiple NPOs, including Terra Renaissance, during the Donation Month period in December 2023. We introduced a system in which employees can freely choose a donation destination and donate through payroll deduction, resulting in matching donations*2 of 2,252,000 yen. *1 Deloitte Tohmatsu’s concept of a “well-being society” consists of three levels: personal, social, and planetary, and all people can experience the results through their own
participation. A society where we can share together. *2 Matching donation is a system in which a company or organization donates the same amount or a certain percentage of the donations collected from employees, etc. Held a certificate of appreciation ceremony and activity report session for employees In conjunction with this donation, Terra Renaissance presented a letter of appreciation to Deloitte Tohmatsu and held a support activity report meeting. At the debriefing session, Director/Overseas Business Manager Ogawa took the stage and discussed issues such as how to integrate into society in response to the discrimination and prejudice faced by former child soldiers in Uganda, one of the areas where they operate. Furthermore, through Terra Renaissance’s social reintegration support project, we conveyed to each individual, including former child soldiers, that they have the power to create their own future. Some participants said that they learned about the various issues that conflict creates and that they learned about what they can do as individuals and as Deloitte Tohmatsu. Impressions after the debriefing session I felt the need for people from all walks of life to work together in order to continue our long-term, on-the-ground activities in areas that are beyond the reach of governments and international organizations but still need support. I sympathize with their activities, which always look at the beneficiaries from their perspective, carefully think through all the way to the end to support their independence, and lead to successful cases. The importance of having a role and regaining one’s self-respect was an important lesson for me when considering support in other fields both domestically and internationally. Image
