The exhibition title, “Synaptic Fragrances That Can’t Be Arrived Immediately,” was inspired by the science fiction novel “The Shape of Things to Come” (1933) by H.G. Wells. This work, written after World War I as if to foresee the next war, depicts a future in which humanity will prosper due to the evolution of technology, and it is still hinted at in the current reality 90 years later. It can be interpreted as a work rich in content. The five artists in this exhibition embody in their works something that they have intuitively and sensually obtained, much like noticing a faint scent floating around them. Enjoy a prescient, multi-world world with a hint of uncertainty that won’t arrive anytime soon. Web page:

We will invite Deputy Chief Priest Hiroyoshi Saito as a lecturer, and we will ask him about the things he has thought about and put into practice to make it a place for everyone. Nowadays, there is a growing belief that brick-and-mortar stores such as shops, cafes, bookstores, and inns want to be places for everyone in the community. Temples used to be places for everyone, centers of education and culture. The way Yanada Temple is evolving its presence by considering its connection with the local community from various perspectives, such as children, music, nature, and food, reveals what will be needed to become a “place for everyone” in the future. Think about what that means. Web page: https://www.d-department.com/item/DD_EVENT_52054.html

Keiko Aikawa’s “face” reveals the complex state of mind of humans and shows fluid transformation. Kenshiro Kihara’s “face” moves between fiction and reality, mixing familiar figures with contemporary social conditions. In addition, Sonoko Nukaga’s three-dimensional works express mysterious distortions of facial expressions that coexist with the values of opposing humans. When you intersect with the “face” created by Hirohiro Mashiro, you are drawn into the seemingly unconventional world view, and you can sense the intentions hidden deep within the characters depicted. At this exhibition, we invite you to come face-to-face with the faces drawn by a new generation of artists and enjoy contemporary portraits.
