(Representative Director: Hideki Koizumi, hereinafter referred to as Shibuya Mirai Design), will be holding a series of sports events in the city of Shibuya, starting and ending at Yoyogi Park, on October 14th (Monday, holiday), which is “Sports Day”. We will be holding a running event “Shibuya de Tore Run” that will take you through the toilets in the area, and we will start accepting online entries from today for those who wish to participate. This event was held as part of “SHIBUYA PLAYGROUND,” a project promoted by Shibuya Mirai Design to open up streets and parks for sports in Shibuya, which does not have many large sports facilities or stadiums. Rather than a large-scale running event, this is an attempt to expand the possibilities of “cities and sports” by utilizing public spaces as sports fields. “Shibuya de Tore Run” is an arrangement of rogaining, an outdoor sport that originated in Australia. Participants start and finish at Yoyogi Park, and participants run into the city in groups of three, making their way to 33 toilets set up as checkpoints. This is a unique event where teams compete to see how many times they can go around the ground within a given time. This is a new running event that takes advantage of the characteristics of Shibuya, which has many clean and comfortable public toilets, including “THE TOKYO TOILET,” which was the subject of a movie. In addition, this new Toilet Run (toilet run) was created by Ryo Tamura of the comedy duo “London Boots 1 and 2” who ran with “THE TOKYO TOILET” as the destination in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic and posted the photo on SNS. This is the motif, and Ryo Tamura was appointed as the initiator of the event at “Shibuya de Toreran”. Rogaining has gone beyond the original framework of a sport played in the mountains and fields, and in recent years has been increasingly used for city revitalization and as a tourist resource, and from an international perspective it can be said to be a characteristic of the city of Shibuya. By running around the public toilets on your own, you can also expect to discover a different charm of Shibuya than usual. Please pay attention to “Shibuya de Toreran”, which has the potential to become a new sports tourism resource in the future, including inbound participants and economic contributions to the city in collaboration with shopping districts. https://toilet.run/

Participants are asked to participate in groups of three, and they set their own course and run, so it doesn’t matter how fast or slow they are. This is an event where teams search for unique and cute toilets in Shibuya Ward, take photos in front of them, and run around happily while uploading them to Instagram. Because that’s what I do, I do fun runs rather than competing for the best time and running as hard as I can. You can also eat rice balls at the park on the way. It’s good to go home early and relax. We place emphasis on having fun while riding. After running for 4 hours through the streets and parks of Shibuya, we would like to have an after party with all the participants and have fun. I don’t know if the afterparty will become the main event (lol). Even if you’re new to running, I think it’s fun enough to just take part. I planned this event because I wanted to try a running event with a low hurdle. It’s my first time so I don’t know what will happen, but I’d be happy if I could see everyone’s smiling faces. Even if you are unable to participate, the words “#Shibuya de Toreran” and “#Shibuya Toreran” will be posted on Instagram on October 14th, so please check them out. *Participation in only the after party is not possible.
