[Tokyu] Switching new electricity used at 7 commercial facilities operated by Tokyu Malls Development to virtually 100% renewable energy
Tokyu Press release: September 26, 2024 The new electricity used at seven commercial facilities operated by Tokyu Malls Development will be switched to virtually 100% renewable energy. Tokyu Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “Tokyu”), Tokyu Malls Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “TMD”), and Tokyu Power Supply Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “TPS”) will operate six commercial facilities operated by TMD in 2024. From October 2024, newly used electricity will be switched to 100% renewable energy using non-fossil certificates *1 provided by TPS, and in addition, Chuorinkan Tokyu Square, operated by TMD, will be newly used from December 2024. We plan to switch the electricity used to 100% renewable energy using the corporate PPA method*2. “Environmental Vision 2030,” which is promoted by the entire Tokyu Corporation Group toward the realization of a decarbonized and recycling-oriented society, aims to limit the rise in global temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius in order to realize a decarbonized society. By 2030, we aim to reduce CO2 emissions by 46.2% (compared to the base year of 2019) and use 50% renewable energy, and by 2050, we aim to achieve virtually zero CO2 emissions and 100% renewable energy. As part of our efforts to achieve this goal, Granbury Park, operated by TMD, will install solar panels from the time of its opening and use renewable energy for some of its electricity, and from October 2023, By combining the corporate PPA method that utilizes solar power plants and the use of non-fossil certificates, we are able to operate using virtually 100% renewable energy. This time, a total of 7 facilities, including Tama Plaza Terrace *3, Aobadai Tokyu Square, part of Musashikosugi Tokyu Square, Gotanda Tokyu Square, Tokyu Square Garden Site, Azamino Sanki Niwa, and Chuorinkan Tokyu Square, will be powered by virtually renewable energy. By switching to 100% electric power, it is expected that CO2 emissions will be reduced by approximately 20,018.09 tons*4 per year. When converted to the annual CO2 emissions of a general household, this is a reduction of approximately 7,300 households*5, and when converted to the volume of Tokyo Dome*6, this is a reduction of approximately 8.2 units per year. The Tokyu Corporation Group will continue to work together with various stakeholders, including customers and local communities, to resolve social issues and promote sustainable urban development that is in harmony with the environment. Details are in the attached sheet. *1 Certificate of the
“environmental value” of electricity generated from non-fossil power sources that do not emit CO2, including renewable energy *2 An electricity supply/procurement method in which consumers purchase electricity and environmental value from a power generation company at a long-term, fixed unit price *3 North Plaza on Tama Plaza Terrace has been switched to renewable energy through the corporate PPA method from July 2024 *4 CO2 emissions are based on the FY2023 results and are based on the alternative value (0.000438t-CO2/kWh) of the Reiwa 4 emissions coefficient by electric utility announced by the Ministry of the Environment on December 22, 2023. Prospects calculated using *5 Calculated from the Ministry of the Environment’s “Summary of the results of the FY2021 CO2 emissions statistical survey in the household sector (confirmed values)” *6 Volume of Tokyo Dome = 1,240,000 m3 (Source: Tokyo Dome City official website

This is a vision announced in March 2022 with the aim of creating a city that can. Aiming to reduce CO2 emissions by 46.2% (compared to the base year 2019) and renewable energy ratio of 50% by 2030, and achieve net zero CO2 emissions and 100% renewable energy ratio by 2050, aiming to realize a recycling-oriented society. We have also set new goals and established “Action 11” to achieve these goals.
