First Next-Generation Writer’s Literary Award Winners Announced! A Total of 921 Entries Compete for Top Prizes
Culture Convenience Club Company, Limited (TSUTAYA) and Indent Co., Ltd., a company supporting 200,000 writers with the structural storytelling tool “Nola,” hosted the first “Next-Generation Writer’s Literary Award” ceremony on September 9th at TSUTAYA headquarters. Out of 921 submissions, the following works were awarded the Grand Prize in each category:
Grand Prize Winners:
- General Entertainment Novel Category: The World After You Left It by Iruka Kanokura
- Light Novel Literary Category: The Rat Caught in the Kabukicho Incident by Akira Tani, The Newcomer is the Knight Commander! by Mikazuki Hazakura
- Original Comic Adaptation Category: The All-Rounder Returns from Death and Becomes the Strongest After Being Expelled from the Hero’s Party for the 100th Time by Sekisei Inko
These four works will be published starting next spring in collaboration with the respective publishing houses of each category. Furthermore, these books will be featured prominently at over 800 TSUTAYA stores nationwide and will also be available as e-books.

Encouraged by the positive response from writers across the nation, the second “Next-Generation Writer’s Literary Award” will be held in 2022. Details of the competition will be announced as they become available.

The Next-Generation Writer’s Literary Award, co-hosted by TSUTAYA and Nola, is an unprecedented literary award that provides comprehensive support from the writing stage to nationwide sales. The tool “Nola” supports structured storytelling, helping to create deep and consistent narratives. Grand Prize winners will receive a cash award and guaranteed publication through TSUTAYA’s group publishers, Tokuma Shoten and Earth Star Entertainment. These works will be prominently featured at TSUTAYA stores across Japan.
