British painter Mackenzie Thorpe will also be visiting Japan! Edge (Chairman: Eiko Todo), a certified NPO in Minato-ku, Tokyo, is holding an art competition for kids and teens with dyslexia who have difficulty reading and writing. The award ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 12th.

Dyslexia is the core of learning disabilities (LD) and is a condition in which a person is unable to read and write fluently and accurately. There are about 2 to 3 people in a class of 40 people, but you can’t tell by looking at them, so not much is known about them. There is generally no delay in intellectual development, and it is thought that this is due to innate brain function. Children with dyslexia, who are familiar to us but little known about them, have a rich innate ability. The 2nd Dyslexia Art Competition is held with the hope that children will experience the joy of expression and increase their creative abilities and self-esteem. This year’s theme is “Daily Life with Dyslexia.” A total of seven entries, including the Grand Prize, Excellence Award, and Honorable Mention, were selected by a jury consisting of currently active artists with dyslexia.
