The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture will implement three art projects called the “TOKYO FORWARD 2025 Cultural Program” in 2025, when the World Athletics Championships and the Deaflympics will be held in Tokyo. Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Opening Ceremony, where diverse personalities came into play and inspired excitement A new adventure story born from that bond/legacy “TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN” August 24, 2021 Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Opening Ceremony The story of a small plane with one wing was developed based on the concept of “WE HAVE WINGS”. In the center of over 700 performers, a girl in a wheelchair played the role of “One-Winged Small Plane.” Yui Wago, who was 13 years old at the time, was selected through a public recruitment process. The story depicts a moving story in which Wago vividly plays the role of a “small one-winged airplane” that had given up on flying, and after encountering various vehicles performed by unique performers, he musters up the courage to take flight. This ceremony, which
artistically depicts the dynamic dynamics of diverse personalities through spectacular performances, moved many viewers through video footage, even without an audience, and was highly praised both domestically and internationally. Four years after that excitement, a new story will be born from that bond/legacy when the 2025 Autumn World Athletics Deaflympics will be held. Kaiji Moriyama, who was the director and chief choreographer of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Opening Ceremony, will be the director and choreographer, and Yui Wago, who performed in “One-Winged Small Plane,” will be the core of the cast, bringing together diverse personalities that go beyond the presence or absence of disabilities.
