(36 Nihon-odori, Naka-ku, Yokohama, President: Takahiro Horikoshi) has collaborated with Central Japan Railway Company (Konan, Minato-ku, Tokyo) to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Tokaido Shinkansen, which opened in 1964. We will start selling the product “Tokaido Shinkansen 60th Anniversary Harbor” in limited quantities from Tuesday, October 1, 2024. To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the opening of the Tokaido Shinkansen, we have created a special package in the shape of a Shinkansen. “Tokaido Shinkansen 60th Anniversary Harbor” This product is a collaboration project between JR Tokai and Ariake Co., Ltd. For the package, we created an original Shinkansen-shaped sleeve gift box to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the opening of the Tokaido Shinkansen, and we thought that it would be enjoyed by everyone in the Yokohama area, including railway fans and children. Inside are 5 pieces of “Yokohama Harbor Double Maron,” which celebrated its 70th anniversary this year. Homemade harbor bean paste with chopped chestnuts is gently wrapped around thin and soft castella dough, creating an exquisite dish with a moist texture and a marron taste that spreads in your mouth. ◆Attention to package design The package was modeled after the shape and design of the Shinkansen N700S series train (hereinafter referred to as N700S), which is a vehicle independently developed by JR Tokai. The “S” in N700S comes from “Supreme,” which means the best or ultimate. In order to deliver the best products to everyone, we have paid close attention to details such as adjusting the three lines of the vehicle that are
characteristic of the N700S and the internal mechanism for pulling out the sleeve. The design depicts “Queen Mary 2”, an illustration by artist Ryohei Yanagihara who loves ships and the port city of Yokohama, and Ariake’s first mascot character “Harbor-kun” peeking out of the Shinkansen window, creating a Harbor-like atmosphere. The Tokaido Shinkansen 60th anniversary logo is featured on the rear side.
