Matsudo City press release (2024.10.01) Matsudo City Yumatsudo Festa 2024 Keynote Speech “Why are women’s wages low? Why does women’s poverty occur?” ~What has emerged from the coronavirus pandemic~ A keynote lecture will be held as the opening of Yumatsudo Festa 2024.  The Gender Equality Division holds the Yuumatsudo Festa every November in collaboration with Matsudo City Gender Equality Promotion Organizations. The overall theme of Yumatsudo Festa 2024 is “Decide Your Own Future,” and various events will be held to help realize a gender-equal society.
Yumatsudo Festa will open with a keynote lecture by Mieko Takenobu. One of the major issues in Japan’s gender gap is the “male and female wage gap.” Even though the number of working women is increasing every year, why does poverty still occur among women? What is behind this?    This is a lecture where we will discuss these issues that have come to light due to the coronavirus pandemic with a lecturer who has covered women’s labor issues as a journalist for many years.
