This event started in 2021 with the desire to hold a triathlon race on Lake Biwa where athletes from all over the world participate, and this year will be the 4th event. The course was centered around Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture at the first event, but last year the course expanded to include Yasu City and Omihachiman City, and from this year it became a middle distance [1.9km swim, 80km bike, 20km run], and has become part of the 2024 JTU Triathlon Age Group.・This event is part of the National Championship Series (Age NCS).

The 1.9km swim course at Lake Biwa, which sparked Japan’s triathlon boom, is centered on the 20km round trip lakeshore road that runs along Lake Biwa, along the Yasu River, a first-class river, and in Moriyama City. This course consists of an 80km bike course that loops through the rural landscape of Japan, and a 20km run course that overlooks Lake Biwa and the mountains of Hiei, surrounded by the cheers of the local community. In terms of age, athletes in their 40s, 50s, and 60s accounted for 73% of the total, showing that triathlon is becoming a lifelong sport. In keeping with the concept of “everyone being the protagonist” of this event, there will also be athletes who are active as top triathlon athletes representing Japan, and para-athletes such as “triathlete with no arms” Hector Picard (USA). join. Additionally, we simultaneously held a “Swimming and Running Seminar” aimed at improving the skills of adults aiming to participate in this event. This event was held for the second time this year, having been held since the third event last year, and approximately 60 people, mainly elementary school students from the local Moriyama and Yasu cities, participated. It was a great opportunity for each participant to become familiar with sports, including elementary school students who came to test their daily swimming skills, families who participated in this event together with their children, and people who were happy to see their children taking on challenges.
