The 33 outstanding works from the 24th contest will be exhibited at the Koji Kinutani Tenku Art Museum from October 9th (Wednesday) to November 4th (Monday), 2024. Mr. Koji Kinutani (painter, member of the Japan Art Institute, professor emeritus of Tokyo University of the Arts), who serves as the honorary director of the museum, has served as the chairman of the judging committee since the first contest. Please take a look at the many wonderful works filled with messages and thoughts about the global environment. Please. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts’ Department of Painting in Oil Painting in 1966, and completed graduate school at the same university in 1968. In 1971, he went to Italy to study and researched the technique of classical fresco painting (fresco painting) in Venice. In 1974, he became the youngest person in history to win the Yasui Prize, and was highly anticipated as a young Western-style painter. After studying abroad in Mexico, he became a professor at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1993 and trained the next generation. Became a member of the Japan Academy of Arts in 2001. In 2010, he became Professor Emeritus of Tokyo University of the Arts. In 2014, he was selected as a Person of Cultural Merit. His representative works include the official poster for the Nagano Winter Olympics. Received the Order of Culture in 2021. We also hold exhibitions at museums and other places in Japan to convey children’s messages (drawings) about the global environment to many people.
