Partnership (JCLP). What is the “♯ so 1.5 degrees” campaign? Given that this year is an important time for the government to consider new greenhouse gas reduction targets, JCLP, along with its member companies, is working to recognize climate change as a “own problem” and to tackle the climate crisis. The aim is to support healthy policy discussions by once again sharing the “1.5 degree target” that the international community has agreed to aim to avoid with society as a whole. Specifically, a large number of supporting companies will disseminate their “personal” stories, create opportunities to think about “personal” in each region in collaboration with local characters, and achieve the “1.5 degree goal”. We will continue to expand awareness of this. Even the electricity that we use casually every day has a producer. Who generates electricity on the other side of the outlet, and how? UPDATER’s “Minna Denryoku” publishes stories of the faces and thoughts of the people who produce electricity, and provides “electricity with visible faces” that you can feel. Minna Denryoku uses an electricity plan that uses 100% renewable energy (*) and has zero CO2 emissions. It is said that about half of the CO2 emitted from homes comes from electricity, so simply switching to renewable energy can reduce CO2 emissions by about half, contributing to the mitigation of climate change. In Japan, there are approximately 100,000 emergency transports and over 1,000 deaths due to heatstroke each year, and the impact on agricultural crops is beginning to put pressure on household budgets. Against this backdrop, the government is currently reviewing its greenhouse gas reduction goals and basic energy plan. The results of this study are attracting attention as to whether Japan, a developed country and member of the G7, can demonstrate leadership towards the world.
