This time, on this trip across Japan, more than just trying to set a world record, I will be valuing the process of trying and running in Japan. What made you decide to try to set the world record for crossing Japan?

The scenery, the people, the food and the experience are truly amazing. In 2018, my father and I traveled across Japan from north to south, and we had a great time as well. In 2023, I broke the Cannonball record from Osaka to Tokyo, and when I was making plans for 2024, I thought, “Why not run the whole of Japan this time and try to break the fastest record?” Which bike will you use for this challenge?

This bike is fast, comfortable, and less tiring on long daily rides. I’ve been riding Roubaix for the last four years and have set several world records during that time. The Future Shock technology is amazing and I never want to ride without it again. The tires are 32mm S-Works Mondo. These tires are fast, wear resistant, and give you peace of mind at night or when you get tired. I also use Rapide CLX II wheels and a 155mm S-Works Phenom saddle. What do you want to convey through this challenge?

It’s an adventure, so there will be good times and bad times, but I’m looking forward to it all. I hope that through this challenge, more Japanese people will set goals and take on the challenge of achieving them. I’m also looking forward to enjoying lots of traditional Japanese food and relaxing my tired legs in the hot springs after the ride! Message to Japanese riders
