Japan Heart, an international medical NGO (certified) specified non-profit organization (Taito-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Haruna Yoshioka; hereinafter referred to as “Japan Heart”), is ORBIS Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takuma Kobayashi, hereinafter referred to as “ORBIS”). ) has decided to promote this project as a partner organization of the “ORBIS Penguin Ring Project,” a new sustainable initiative to support children who will lead the future starting on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. ORBIS is based on the idea that in order for future society to remain sustainable, society as a whole needs to create an environment in which children, who will lead the next generation, can grow up without facing difficulties that they cannot solve on their own. We have started the “ORBIS Penguin Ring Project” as a new initiative. We have agreed to support Japan Heart’s mission of “delivering medical care to places where medical care cannot reach,” and Japan Heart will promote this activity as a partner. Through this project, we aim to create a sustainable cycle that expands the circle of support for children. ORBIS Penguin Ring Project ​ [Thoughts behind the project name] Penguins have a habit of forming groups and living huddled together in order to survive the harsh Antarctic environment. In addition, when it comes to raising chicks, there are some species of penguins that have the habit of having other adult penguins protect their chicks when their parents are absent. Inspired by this idea, we decided to name it the “ORBIS Penguin Ring Project” because we wanted to create a large circle of support where everyone would support the healthy growth of children.

Furthermore, as a Japan Heart corporate member and monthly supporter, ORBIS continues to support activities to “deliver medical care to areas that cannot be reached by medical care.” In the near future, UV care products and other items will be donated to Japan Heart’s local staff, including medical personnel, who work every day in Southeast Asia, where the sun is strong.
