By holding a baseball class before the game and playing the game afterwards, the tournament will provide practical and effective instruction and help players improve in the game. I am Kazunori Shinozuka, a former member of the Yomiuri Giants. I am very honored to be able to host a baseball tournament that bears my name. I am grateful to be able to hold this wonderful tournament. Baseball is a great sport that fosters teamwork, friendship, and competitive spirit. We hope that through this tournament, the team will be able to demonstrate the fruits of their hard training and have fun together. Kazunori Shinozuka profile Former Yomiuri Giants baseball commentator/baseball coach Born July 16, 1957 in Tokyo, from Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture. In 1974, as a second-year student at Chiba Prefectural Choshi Commercial High School, he participated in the spring/summer and Koshien tournaments as the No. 4 third baseman, and won the national championship in the summer. In 1976, he joined the Yomiuri Giants as the first pick in the draft. He supported the Giants in the 1980s with his artistic wide-angle batting and brilliant defense. Retired in 1994. During his 19 years as an active player, he has won eight league championships and been number one in Japan three times. Lifetime batting average of .34%. He was the leadoff hitter twice, was in the best nine five times, and won the Golden Glove Award four times. Appeared in the All-Star Game nine times. Coach of the Yomiuri Giants since 1995. After working as a baseball commentator for two years, he again coached the Yomiuri Giants in 2005, contributing to a total of six league championships and three consecutive championships, including three consecutive championships from 2006 to 2009. At the 2nd World Baseball Classic (WBC) in 2009, he led the team to number one in the world as a hitting coach. Retired as coach in 2010. Since 2011, he has been working as a baseball commentator and baseball coach. In January 2012, he served as a temporary coach for the Korean professional baseball team’s LG Twins. An e-book about his baseball history, “Aesthetics of Victory” – “Baseball Artist”, Kazunori Shinozuka’s way of thinking! -, released. He has published instructional books for children and beginners such as “Introduction to batting taught by professionals” and “Wide-angle batting techniques for ages 6 and up.” Recently, his new book “The Secret of Nagashiuchi” is on sale. He also serves as the supervisor of the athlete support project “Dream Japan” and is actively engaged in giving lectures at baseball classes.
