“Caplan Wine Academy” operated by Pasona HR Solutions Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President Kazuhiko Makishima, hereinafter “Pasona HRS”) is the first “CHAMPAGNE SPECIALIST” certified by the Champagne Committee in Japan. ” qualification course will be held from November 2nd (Saturday). In recent years, Japan has been the third largest importer of Champagne in terms of quantity and value, after the United States and the United Kingdom, and consumption is increasing, with 16.57 million bottles imported in 2022, an increase of 20% from the previous year. Additionally, according to the Champagne Committee Japan Office, the number of participants in the Champagne Academy Basic Course/Advanced Course is increasing, and there is a need for more specialized learning opportunities in Champagne. Caplan Wine Academy opened in 1995, and since 2000 has offered qualification courses for the world’s largest wine education organization, WSET(R) (Wine & Spirit Education Trust)*2, targeting Japanese Champagne lovers. We have been holding a “Champagne Basic Course”. Now, Caplan Wine Academy’s achievements to date have been recognized by the Champagne Committee, and we are now starting a course to acquire the “CHAMPAGNE SPECIALIST” qualification, the first in Japan to be certified by the same committee. Since this course was launched in France in October 2023 for wine professionals, it has only been offered in six countries: the Netherlands, the United States, Switzerland, Germany, and the United Kingdom, so we have received many applications for the course from other countries. It has become a popular course. This course is being held for the first time in Japan and can only be taken at Caplan Wine Academy (as of September 2024). After passing the final exam, you will be given the title of “CHAMPAGNE SPECIALIST” certified and issued by the Champagne Committee. . Through this project, Caplan Wine Academy aims to support people’s spiritually fulfilling lives and to develop human resources who can communicate the appeal of wine to the world. *1 Champagne Committee: Refers to the Comite Interprofessionnel du Vin de Champagne (C.I.V.C.). We continue to work to ensure that only sparkling wine from the Champagne region of France can be called Champagne, and to protect the name.Without a trader number issued by this committee, Champagne cannot be brewed. A semi-governmental, semi-private organization in which all Champagne makers participate *2 WSET: The world’s largest wine education institution headquartered in London was founded in 1969 by the Vintners Company, a British wine merchant association that supports the wine industry.
