Kudo was excited from the start of the recording, as he was in the same class as the farmer he introduces this time when he was in elementary school. He says he usually calls Mr. Ando “An-chan,” and he shakes his hand firmly, saying, “An-chan!” and is happy to see him again. Mr. Ando lives in Yurihama Town, Tottori Prefecture. It is one of the leading producers of pears in Japan, which is the origin of the town’s name, and Nijisseiki pears, in particular, boast a history of over 100 years. Mr. Ando started farming in the pear fields managed by his grandfather in this area, and gradually expanded his farmland. Currently, he cultivates Nijisseiki pears all by himself on a total of about 70 ares of farmland divided into three locations. While helping out with the pear harvest, which is currently the busiest time (recorded in late August), Kudo asked Mr. Ando, who he knows well, not only how he got into farming, but also his income, lifestyle, and the region and country where he started farming. Ask them how they are supporting them. Mr. Ando also answered candidly. ■Kudo University TV! The “graduation” from elementary school is revealed!! The origin of wanting to become an actor is also revealed! Up until now, the program has introduced a variety of information related to farming, but I would especially like to know what kind of support measures and backups are being provided by the country and region. Kudo then asked Ando what kind of support measures did you use to start farming, and what is your current income as a result? I ask one after another. Then, a real amount of money came out of Mr. Ando’s mouth… The reality of working in agriculture today emerges from the “honest talk” that took place with the trust that only exists between friends. And this time, there is also a development where you can feel the friendship between Kudo and Ando-san! After finishing the work, I arrived at Mr. Ando’s quaint 50-year-old Japanese house, where he had prepared my elementary school yearbook. Kudo was embarrassed and said, “You don’t have to show that!”, but when I turned the page to see it for the first time on TV, I found Kudo in the group photo! “From this point on, I was different from everyone around me,” Ando said. What kind of Kudo is reflected in the photo? It’s a must-see! Also, when I looked at what was written in the anthology, I found that there was written down an incident that seemed to be the origin of Kudo’s desire to become an actor… While reminiscing about nostalgic memories, Kudo, who aspired to become a professional tennis player during his school days, decided to become an actor. Kudo will tell you an episode that gives us a glimpse of this. A special commemorating the 100th broadcast of Kudo and Ando’s farming and friendship talk. Kudo commented, “Unlike usual, the talk has a rough feel to it.I’m sure the content is unique because it’s a special episode.” Full of Kudo’s “real face”! Be sure to watch “Kudo Asuka Goes to Start Farming” broadcast on October 16th (Wednesday)! [Asuka Kudo’s comment] Q: This is the third year since the broadcast started. What do you think when you look back on the recordings so far? It’s been so long already. It went by so quickly. I have met many people, taken on challenges at Marche, and tried many new things on this program, so I am excited to continue working on new things. I’m looking forward to seeing what you can do from now on. I’m sure it was the same with everyone on the filming team, but at first I was just trying to figure it out. How should I move in the field? There are places you shouldn’t step on, and I’m gradually starting to understand which angles to pick vegetables. Now, the film crew including myself works as one team, and we can proceed with recording smoothly without exchanging words. I think all of us on the team have as much agricultural knowledge as farmers, so I think we can continue to evolve. Q: How do you feel about the 100th broadcast? Thanks to everyone who supported the program and me in various ways. I’m really a happy person, and if possible, I’d be happy if I could continue doing it 200 or 300 times. I haven’t yet achieved my goal of visiting all 47 prefectures, so I really want to make it happen! Q: Please tell us about the farmers who will be interviewed on the memorable 100th broadcast I’m going to visit a classmate of mine from elementary school named Shoma Ando. Although we were in different classes, we often played together. We hardly ever met as adults, but when I attended an agricultural event in Tokyo about two years ago, we ran into each other by chance. We were both surprised and excited as we talked about things like, “What do you do?” and “I’m a farmer.” I feel really special and happy to be able to join my classmates for the 100th broadcast. I am really glad that I did this program. Yasu-chan…That’s what I usually call Ando-kun, and Yasu-chan originally inherited a pear farm run by his grandfather and grandmother in Tottori Prefecture. People go through life by making various choices from time to time. What kind of job will you have? What kind of environment do you choose to live in? I have made various choices in my own way, and he has made various choices in his own way, and I never expected him to be able to appear on the show that I appear on. I started this program with the desire to deepen ties with farmers, and I feel like that wish has come true. In life, unexpected things happen. Q: How was the recording? It was so much fun! We all hope that the day of recording will be a pleasant and enjoyable day for the farmers who appear on the program. I have recorded each piece with respect for the farmers. When I was talking to Yasu-chan, I cherished the same feelings as I usually do when recording, but I thought it would be better to show the relationship between me and Yasu-chan since we are just classmates, so in the end, the conversation turned out to be just like any other conversation. Ta. In that sense, I think it’s going to be a little different than usual. Q: What are the highlights of the broadcast? In Tottori Prefecture, a famous pear-producing region, one of the farmers that supports pears is my classmate. I think the appeal of the pears made by Yasu-chan can be conveyed. Also, I hope you will enjoy this side of Asuka Kudo, which is a little different from the usual episodes. There were things we were able to talk about because we were classmates, so please enjoy the relationship between the two of us. Anyway, Yasu-chan’s pears were delicious. After the recording, I couldn’t help but buy it. I’ve decided to buy it every year from now on (lol) [Program overview] [Program name] “Kudo Asuka goes and started farming” To protect his grandfather’s pear farm, a former bank employee takes on the challenge of cultivating historical pears!
