People with disabilities unravel the origami cranes one by one, mix them into pulp, and carefully hand-make each one. Therefore, in order to increase its durability and water resistance, we applied a “konnyaku paste” treatment to the orizuru paper. Konnyaku paste is a natural coating agent that has been used to strengthen Japanese paper since ancient times. As a result, we have created a badge that is made of paper but does not easily break or tear even when worn all day. Why do we ask people with disabilities to make “Meguru Handmade Paper”? We have a dream that we would like to make come true through “Meguru Handmade Paper.” This is to solve the social issue of wage disparity for people with disabilities. Specifically, the aim is to increase wages for people with
disabilities by having them make “Meguru, handmade paper.” To this end, we will work together and co-create with workshops, companies, local governments, etc. all over the country who have the same idea. “Meguru, handmade paper” will continue to actively expand in order to face these social issues and lead to the realization of a better society, and in the future, we hope to become a source of hope for people with disabilities.
