Press release of NTT e-Drone Technology Co., Ltd. (2024.10.09) NTT e-Drone Technology Co., Ltd. Flight demonstration for drone utilization across normal times and disaster times in Hokkaido Drone Implementation Promotion Project commissioned work (2nd time) ~ Implementation of drone utilization during disasters through drone exercises in Fukushima town disaster prevention training Aim for ~ Key points of this demonstration: (1) Remote control of a drone using LTE communication during Hokkaido’s first local government disaster prevention drill ・Using mobile phone communication networks, we are able to overcome the traditional issue of distance constraints between drones and operators, and use drones to check the situation in areas that have not been confirmed to be safe from a distant safe zone. (2) Human detection using real-time “video transmission x image analysis” of drone footage ・Videos captured by drones can be simultaneously distributed in real time to multiple locations, such as remote disaster response headquarters, to help quickly understand the disaster situation and decide on countermeasures. ・By subjecting images of disaster-stricken areas to AI image analysis and detecting people, it can be useful for evacuation guidance and rescue.  NTT Ad Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President: Akihiko Azuma, hereinafter referred to as “NTT Ad”) and NTT e-Drone Technology Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President: Masahiro Takizawa, hereinafter referred to as “NTT E-Drone”) The “Hokkaido Drone Implementation Promotion Project Promotion Consortium,” which was formed as the executive company, is aiming to resolve local issues through the social implementation of drones that Hokkaido aims to implement. On July 31st of this year, the Hokkaido Drone Implementation Promotion Project Promotion Consortium was established with regard to disaster response, which is of high interest to local governments. The first flight demonstration was conducted.  In light of the recent increase in the risk of large-scale earthquakes, this second demonstration focused on the use of drones in times of disaster, and was part of the Fukushima Town DX experience class during the Fukushima Town Disaster Prevention Drill. The project will be carried out in collaboration with Fukushima Commercial High School, where students are learning about drones, and Nakatsuka Construction Co., Ltd., a local company working to improve business efficiency using drones. 1. Demonstration summary  In recent years, with the serious damage caused by earthquakes and the increasing risk of large-scale earthquakes occurring, it is essential for regions located in coastal areas to take measures against tsunamis. The challenge is to quickly assess the damage situation when a landslide occurs. In order to “implement” the use of drones during disasters in order to solve these issues, we will conduct demonstrations of drone use during disaster prevention training based on cases that simulate actual disasters. (1) Demonstration details: ・Demonstration 1. Remote control of drones via LTE communication and evacuation guidance support using real-time “video transmission x AI image analysis” of aerial footage *Video transmission and image analysis will utilize an application currently being jointly developed by NTT E-Drone and Red Dot Drone Japan Co., Ltd. ・Demonstration 2. Understanding the damage situation of landslides and other disasters through rapid “ortho conversion (photo compositing) x GIS data (residential map) linkage” of aerial drone images (2) Disaster prevention training location: Fukushima Town General Gymnasium (Address: 25 Mitake, Fukushima-cho, Matsumae-gun, Hokkaido) *The main base for the drone demonstration will be the Fukushima Town General Gymnasium, as shown in the diagram below.Demonstration 1. will be at the landing site near Yoshioka Fishing Port (coordinates: 41.443007728193585, 140.2378601475684), and demonstration 2. will be in the Toyohama area (coordinates:
41.45002170754647, 140.238629577979) 82) It will be held at

If the drone flight on the day is canceled, we will conduct a drone utilization exercise only inside the Fukushima Town General Gymnasium, using footage that was conducted in advance. 2. System  With the same system as the first flight demonstration conducted on July 31st this year, each company’s knowledge and knowledge will be used to utilize drones during disasters, utilize data acquired by drones, disseminate information for implementation, etc. We will utilize our know-how to carry out this demonstration, which will be our second flight demonstration.

Future initiatives  In addition to this drone flight demonstration, we will hold a workshop for students and parents in Fukushima Town to foster future leaders and improve social acceptance for social implementation of drones. We will work to create a regional development model for the future.  In addition, we will work with the Hokkaido Government to deploy the knowledge gained through the previous and current demonstrations to municipalities in Hokkaido. ●About Fukushima Commercial High School  There were 9 new students at Fukushima Commercial High School in April 2020. If the number of students falls below 10 for two consecutive years, recruitment will be suspended, and the school was in danger of closing. However, the school has attracted students from all over the country with its unique curriculum, including classes using drones and support for acquiring qualifications. As of April 2020, there were 29 new students. ●About Nakatsuka Construction Co., Ltd.  A construction company located in Fukushima Town, founded in 1965, engaged in civil engineering and construction work. In addition to using drones to improve the efficiency of surveying and equipment inspection operations, we also use drones for civil engineering work within Fukushima Town, contributing to the local community. ●About the first flight demonstration  From July 30th to August 1st of this year, kelp farms and seaweed beds will be measured in preparation for the certification of blue carbon credits, which have the potential to become a new source of income for regions whose core industry is fishing. , we conducted demonstrations using drones regarding regional issues such as determining red tide.
