Especially in classical music, it is very important to express the content of the score along with the composer’s thoughts. On the other hand, in jazz, music doesn’t seem to have a musical score. He improvises and arranges melodies and performs improvisations to bring out his own individuality. Expectations are high as to what kind of chemical reaction will occur between these two collaborations. The first half begins with a trio of saxophone, piano, and drums playing a jazz arrangement of classical music. The second half will feature a passionate collaboration between Tohoku Youth Orchestra volunteers and jazz musicians, focusing on Ryuichi Sakamoto’s music. The songs performed include “Aqua” and “Merry Christmas on the Battlefield” Music representative of Mr. Sakamoto, such as, will also be performed. Without making any changes to Ryuichi Sakamoto’s arrangement, jazz musicians will session with the Tohoku Youth Orchestra’s performance using “ad-lib”, the real thrill of jazz. This time’s sub-theme is “co-starring Ryuichi Sakamoto’s music and improvisation”. It will be a precious stage that will only be held on this day, unlike any other in the world!
