 In Japan, the “average transaction price” is often cited as an indicator to understand price movements in the used car market, but the “average transaction price” alone cannot reflect changes in the quality of used cars traded. Therefore, it is not possible to accurately grasp price fluctuations.  Therefore, Aucnet developed the “Reuse Distribution Price Index” with the University of Tokyo Economic Consulting Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Yosuke Kawaharada, hereinafter referred to as UTEcon). Based on Aucnet’s member distribution data of more than 10,000 vehicles, and by utilizing UTEcon’s price index construction know-how and incorporating various used car attributes into a statistical model, we can calculate how much used car prices actually go up and down in the Japanese market. We have built a “Used Car Market Price Index” system that allows us to objectively understand whether the market price is being used, and we are publishing monthly reports starting from December 2023.  We would like to inform you that the “Used Car Market Price Index” report for September 2024 has been published at “Aucnet Circular Distribution Lab”.    The “Used Car Market Price Index” report will be released around the 20th of every month. ■“Used Car Market Price Index” Report for September 2024  The “Used Car Market Price Index” in September 2024 will be 2.303, increasing by 0.031 (1.35% increase) from 2.272 in the previous month, taking July 2008 as 1. On the other hand, the “average transaction price” of used cars, like the “Used Car Market Price Index,” increased by 0.106 (7.56%)*1 from 1.397 in the previous month to 1.503, taking July 2008 as 1.
