When we first started artificially caring for him, he was thin and small, but after about two months, he has become plump. I want my baby to grow at his own pace. And I hope that someday he will grow up to be a strong sloth like his mother. 2024 August 28th Birth August 29th (1 day old) Mother died and artificial childcare started First weight measurement (640g) September 4th (7 days old) First sunbathing September 7th (10 days old) First baby food October 16th (49 days old) Over 1,000g for the first time [Artificial childcare for sloths] The baby is currently living at the Wild Animal Medical Center with support from the petting plaza and veterinary hospital staff. The gestation period is about 5 to 10 months, and there is usually one child per birth. Characteristics: Unlike other arboreal animals, they live in a hanging posture with their limbs. They are nocturnal and spend about 15 to 18 hours a day sleeping hanging from trees. Everything from feeding to sleeping, mating, and giving birth takes place in the trees.
