The 56th Takatsuki City Chrysanthemum Exhibition, sponsored by the Takatsuki City Chrysanthemum Association, will be held in front of the east entrance of the main building of Takatsuki City Hall until Thursday, November 7, 2020, displaying beautiful chrysanthemums grown with great care. On October 28th (Monday), a judging panel was held to judge the beauty of the chrysanthemums based on the balance of the whole chrysanthemum and the size of the flowers and leaves, and winners of the Mayor’s Award were selected.

The exhibition was started by the city’s Chrysanthemum Flower Association in 1963 to allow as many citizens as possible to appreciate the chrysanthemum, which is Japan’s representative flower, and this year marks the 56th time. This year, members of the association submitted approximately 80 entries to a total of 5 categories, including the “3-pot set,” which is a set of three pots in red, white, and yellow, and the “dome chrysanthemum,” which is a round dome-shaped small chrysanthemum. Although the full bloom period was delayed due to the effects of the intense heat, the chrysanthemums are finally in full bloom, and beautiful, colorful masterpieces of chrysanthemums are lined up in the five houses in front of the east entrance of the main building of City Hall. This year’s challenge variety, “Kokuka Kouga,” which the contestants painstakingly cultivated for six months, was judged, and Kenichi Onishi (Tsunoe Kita-cho, Takatsuki city) won the Takatsuki Mayor’s Award and the Chairman’s Award, and Atsushi Mori won the Board of Education Award.
