Press release: October 31, 2024 A new cultural facility “Ikaho Literature Museum” opens on November 1st at Ikaho Onsen On November 1st, “Ikaho Literature Museum – History of Modern Literature” will open at Ikaho Onsen Hotel Tenbo in Shibukawa City, Gunma Prefecture. This is a rare private literary museum in Japan that displays rare first editions and signed books by writers who represent modern literature since the Meiji era. Image

Works are classified and exhibited, including Meiji literature, Taisho literature, Showa literature, and Gunma literature Purpose and characteristics of opening It was opened with the aim of creating new attractions for individual travelers in response to changes in travel patterns in recent years. We provide an immersive space that combines literary works and photographs of authors, which can be enjoyed by both those who are familiar with literature and those who are not. This literary museum strongly reflects my personal tastes. There are many important first edition books that are not on display, but please keep this in mind as it is just a matter of personal taste. We plan to continue to enhance the exhibits in the future. We would be happy if literature lovers, people interested in modern literature, and even those who are interested in modern literature can experience the opportunity to come into contact with the author through signed books.
