“PSR 74” is a faithful reproduction of the “Hamilton Pulsar Cushion” released in 1974 The 1970s were an era of technological innovation, with great advances in personal computers, home VCRs, video games, and the world’s first digital wristwatch, the Hamilton Pulsar. Introduced in 1970 and released in 1972, the Hamilton Pulsar P1 forever changed the way the world tells time. Even as the Pulsar’s success continued, Hamilton continued to evolve its design. The Hamilton Pulsar Cushion, released in 1974, served as inspiration for the PSR 74, marking a new chapter in the legend of digital timekeeping. The PSR 74 continues Hamilton’s tradition of combining technical engineering with unique design. The PSR 74 is a contemporary refinement of vintage design and brings innovation in the form of new features. The silhouette is as bold and futuristic as ever, with the iconic 31mm cushion-shaped case design borrowed from the original model. Complementing the curved lines of the case, the unique bangle-style bracelet features a sharply tapered silhouette for a streamlined look. Push buttons on both sides of the case (as opposed to the single button on the Hamilton Pulsar 2) allow for simultaneous display of date and time. Additionally, the watch can be set to either a 24-hour display or a 12-hour AM/PM display. On the other hand, the display uses both reflective LCD (liquid crystal display) and emissive OLED (organic light emitting diode). OLED improves the contrast and detail of the indicators. Hamilton designers chose to keep the display numeral typeface original to that seen on the 1970s Hamilton Pulsar. In other words, the world’s first digital timekeeping feature has been inherited by the PSR 74. Available in stainless steel and gold PVD coating, the PSR 74 heralds a stylish new era in digital timekeeping.
