NEC Platforms launches “FoodFrontia KIOSK,” a self-checkout system using kiosk terminals for restaurants
NEC Platforms Corporation Press release: November 6, 2024 NEC Platforms launches “FoodFrontia KIOSK,” a self-checkout system using kiosk terminals for restaurants. Customers themselves order and pay at fast food restaurants, noodle shops, etc. On November 5th, NEC Platforms launched FoodFrontia KIOSK, a self-checkout system for fast food restaurants, noodle shops, coffee shops, food courts, and takeout stores that allows customers to order and pay on a kiosk terminal. Sales have started since. The kiosk terminals have a large touch panel LCD screen measuring up to 32 inches (Note 1), making it easy for customers to operate intuitively, and there are two types of terminals: free-standing and tabletop, which can be selected according to the installation space and purpose. In addition, a part of the screen can be used as signage to promote product sales, and products for sale can be displayed (Note 2) in free-layout menu book images, improving product appeal. This system allows for integrated management of data such as POS registers operated by employees of FoodFrontia, a POS register system for restaurants sold by our company, and sales products. When operating both this system and FoodFrontia, there is no need to update data on each device when changing menus, etc., contributing to more efficient data management and labor savings.

Integrated management of employee-operated POS and master data Data such as the product menu of “FoodFrontia KIOSK” can be managed collectively with the POS register operated by employees of “FoodFrontia”, a POS register system for restaurants sold by our company. Stores that operate both this system and FoodFrontia in-store do not need to update data on each device when changing menus, significantly reducing the operational burden of data management. Companies with multiple store chains can streamline and save labor in updating data at their headquarters. 3. Mobile ordering and food delivery also available Even stores that only have “FoodFrontia KIOSK” can operate in conjunction with mobile ordering and food delivery services through settings. When a mobile order or food delivery order, including takeout, is received, usage data is automatically
accumulated without any action on the FoodFrontia KIOSK side, so the data can be used for sales analysis, etc. Since there is no need to separately install a POS cash register terminal for management, it also contributes to reducing system installation costs. 4. Can be introduced at low cost The control unit uses our company’s “TWINPOS Bx” compact POS controller for stores, which can be freely combined with various devices to create a POS system. Although it is a dedicated kiosk terminal with a large screen, high operability, and a wealth of functions, it can be introduced at a low cost. 5. Promote recommendations as signage Images and videos can be displayed on the top screen before operation. It can also be used as signage to notify you of recommended products and event information.

Terminal lineup includes free-standing type and tabletop type FoodFrontia KIOSK terminals can be selected from free-standing and tabletop types depending on the purpose and installation location. The tabletop type can also accept cash by installing an automatic change machine. Both the free-standing type and the tabletop type are available in black or white, so you can choose the color that best suits your store’s design. About this system More (Note 1) The display size is 32 inches for the free-standing type and 21.5 inches for the tabletop type. (Note 2) Scheduled to be released in January 2025. *FoodFrontia, FoodFrontia KIOSK, and TWINPOS are trademarks or registered trademarks of NEC Platforms Corporation. *Product names, service names, and company names listed are trademarks, registered trademarks, or trade names of each company.
