Fukuoka International Airport Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that the grand opening date for the expansion and renovation work on the Fukuoka Airport International Terminal Building, which began construction in May 2022, will be Friday, March 28, 2025. • As the gateway to Fukuoka, Kyushu, and western Japan, we are currently undergoing expansion and renovation work on our international terminal building in line with the national government’s runway expansion project, in order to welcome many customers in a comfortable space. We are working to improve convenience and airport services and create attractive facilities so that as many customers as possible can use our services “Free, Fast, and Fun.” • The expansion and renovation work has so far included facility expansions such as extending the concourse, adding a passenger boarding bridge, constructing a new multi-level parking lot, and renovating the lounge, as well as adding automatic check-in machines and installing automatic baggage drop machines. In the future, the access hall (arrival lobby expansion, improvement of the transfer environment for secondary transportation) and internal bus route will be put into service in December, and the grand opening will be held in March next year. • At the grand opening, the security checkpoint and immigration checkpoint will be relocated and expanded, and seven new “Smart Lanes” (smart security systems) will be installed at the security checkpoint. This will approximately double the processing capacity and shorten departure processing time. In addition, for the first time in Kyushu, we will be introducing a “Priority Lane,” a lane where passengers can receive priority security screening without having to wait in line. • In the area where passengers pass through immigration, there will be a duty-free shop approximately four times the size of the previous one and a food court* with eight stores, providing an enjoyable and comfortable space for shopping and dining. A landmark turret is set up in the center of the walk-through duty free shop, allowing you to feel the uniqueness of Fukuoka and Japan until the very end when you leave Japan. In addition, we will open a duty-free shop on arrival where you can enjoy tax-free shopping at a great value upon entering the country. • We will continue to develop facilities that can be used safely, securely, and comfortably, with the aim of becoming “a top-class international airport in East Asia with an unparalleled aviation network in East and Southeast Asia.” *Details such as the brands and restaurants that will be opening will be announced later. ■About the grand opening On Friday, March 28, 2025, we will hold a grand opening of the expanded section, which will have functions such as security checkpoints, immigration checkpoints, duty-free shops, food courts, and immigration checkpoints.
