Miyakejima (Miyake Village), which has a friendship city agreement with Koganei City, has a well built by Kojiro Koganei for the island’s residents, and a related stone monument is still erected in front of Musashi-Koganei Station. The Nebuta features a powerful three-dimensional sculpture of a water stream inspired by the Kojiro Ido in Koganei, which greatly contributed to the island’s water-stressed residents, and a guardian dog said to have been dedicated to Koganei Shrine in his later years.
