Experience-based art event “Kuniyoshi Festival CARAVAN” will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Enjoji Temple in Kibichuo-cho. This event will be held with students attending lectures offered by the Yasuo Kuniyoshi Research Course. This year’s Kuniyoshi Festival will feature craft workshops for elementary school students and their parents, as well as exhibits on research and educational activities advanced by the Yasuo Kuniyoshi Research Course, and a mini-concert. The craft workshops have been held by the Yasuo Kuniyoshi Research Course at museums and community centers across Japan, and include making original masks that appear in Yasuo Kuniyoshi’s paintings and framing postcards of Yasuo Kuniyoshi’s works. This is a workshop. These workshops have also been recognized by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, which is popularly known as MoMA. In addition to a full-scale reproduction of Yasuo Kuniyoshi’s works, the exhibition will also feature works by Hatsuo Kiyoshi and Kazuo Yamamoto, painters who live at the National Hansen’s Disease Sanatorium Nagashima Aiseien and are currently being reevaluated. We will exhibit works by Kenichi Tanaka, a painter from Mifune-cho, Kumamoto Prefecture who dedicated his life to the development of local culture, and whose works were rescued by local people when they were damaged in the Kumamoto Earthquake. We look forward to your participation.
