[Summary] Togaru Co., Ltd. (Representative Director: Yutaka Kojima), based in Nakamura Ward, Nagoya City, is collaborating with Nagoya Zokei University to develop the Tsubaki Amazake Regional Ai・We will begin the revitalization project (tentative name) in earnest. On October 15, 2024, as the first step of the project, students from Nagoya Zokei University held an orientation and field survey. Background of the Tsubaki Amazake Project Nagoya Station, one of Japan’s leading terminal stations and the gateway to the Tokai region, has historical and cultural heritage sites within walking distance in the west area where the Shinkansen exit is located. One of the stories of this area is that amazake made from the clear water of the Oise River, which once flowed through this area, is said to have quelled epidemics. This tradition has been passed down as the Amazake Festival, which is still held at Tsubaki Shinmei Shrine and Makino Shinmei Shrine. However, due to the acceleration of urban development with an eye on the linear era, the unique history and culture of this region is rapidly being lost. In this situation, we aim to create a new town where development and tradition coexist, and believe that it is necessary to protect and develop the history and culture of the area that should be passed on to the next generation. Conducting field surveys through industry-academia collaboration On October 15, 2024, an orientation was held at Togal Co., Ltd. with students from Nagoya Zokei University. Afterwards, we conducted a field survey together with local stakeholders. Walk along the road where the Osase River once flowed, listen to an explanation of the origin of the Amazake Festival from the head of the shrine parishioners and local residents at Tsubaki Shinmeisha Shrine, and sample the amazake served to worshipers. It was an opportunity to experience the history and traditions of the region firsthand.
