The Asset Management Women’s Forum (AMWF), a network that carries out cross-industry initiatives to promote the active participation of women in the asset management industry, in which Daiwa Asset Management participates, will hold an event on September 25th as its first initiative of the year. From the perspective of a working woman, we held a panel discussion and discussion-style workshop to give you hints on how to find your own career path. Participants said, “This was the first time I learned about the idea of “role parts,” rather than role models, and I thought it was an important concept.” “I realized that all people who build their careers are the result of taking on challenges.” The event ended with great success, as we received many positive comments. More than 30% of the participants this time were men, and there was a wide range of age groups, and we were reminded of the high level of interest in promoting the advancement of women in the industry as a whole. Concerns regarding career development support for subordinates 5. Ideas for creating an atmosphere where women can thrive in the workplace Participants were divided into groups based on the five themes listed above and had discussions. Many participants said, “I was able to spend a very meaningful time exchanging opinions with people who have the same worries and issues, such as the situation at other companies and specific initiatives.”

A common problem with promoting women’s empowerment is that the percentage of women who want to become managers remains at a lower level than men. Looking at the survey results of the participants of this event, Approximately 90% of those who were not positive about being promoted to a managerial position (the green frame in the pie chart on the far right) changed their feelings toward a managerial position positively after they were actually promoted. Mr. Ishihara, a speaker at the event, said, “At first I declined the offer to become head of stock investment, but I’m glad I accepted the offer because my boss supported me.Even if you’re not confident, if you take on the challenge, the next path will open up for you.” I was talking.
