Shirakabaso Nagano, Japan (November 7, 2024) – Travel and Leisure, the world’s leading vacation ownership and membership resort company, has acquired Shirakabaso Resort, located at the world-famous Shiga Kogen Ski Resort, to host the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. The 32-room ski-in/ski-out resort has been rebranded as Club Wyndham Shirakabaso, making it the first international resort within Joshinetsu Kogen National Park. Club Wyndham Shirakabaso Shigakogen is the second Club Wyndham Resort and 20th facility in Japan operated by Travel & Leisure. Travel and Leisure, a global leisure travel leader, is expanding its base in Japan. The acquisition aims to provide Club Wyndham members with a new accommodation option in Japan. The acquisition comes as the Japanese government revitalizes its national parks, leveraging private investment to add at least one luxury resort to each of its 35 national parks by 2031. Located in Shiga Kogen, one of Asia’s largest ski resorts, Club Wyndham Shirakabaso offers access to 70 ski lifts by gondola or cross-country skiing. We also offer ski and snowboard equipment rentals and gear repair services. After hitting the slopes, you can spend time in a variety of locations, including six hot springs, a sauna, a restaurant, a private dining room, a whiskey bar, a lobby cafe, a gift shop and a rooftop terrace. “Japan continues to be one of the world’s leading tourist

As part of the resort’s rebranding, 32 guest suites will be upgraded, public spaces will be renovated, the outdoor deck will be transformed into a family-friendly outdoor space, and a new pizza restaurant will be created. Joshinetsu Kogen National Park, which can be enjoyed in all seasons, boasts pristine hiking trails with breathtaking views, vast vistas, turquoise lakes, dynamic volcanic terrain, and is also home to golden eagles, Asian black bears, Japanese wild cats, and snow monkeys.
