JASA Hypothesis Verification Boot Camp Secretariat Press release: November 7, 2024 We will be holding a seminar on “hypothesis verification know-how” that is effective in the rapidly changing VUCA era and the era of AI utilization from three perspectives: “urban development”, “human resource development”, and “practical”! [At EdgeTech 2024 Conference] November 22, 2024 (Friday) 2 themes in the morning, 1 theme in the afternoon (Pacifico Yokohama: Exhibition Hall Seminar Room E) We invite everyone to pre-register and come to the venue. It is an experimental approach to see if new ideas and solutions work. Create a hypothesis, test it, and analyze the data to find the right direction. “Hypothesis testing” allows employees to make steady progress and respond flexibly and effectively to the unpredictable challenges they face in their daily work by repeatedly testing their hypotheses.

Mr. Hiroyuki Watanabe: Hypothesis Verification Boot Camp Executive Committee Chairman Director, Vice Chairman, Embedded Systems Technology Association Information about the “Hypothesis Verification Boot Camp” program Mr. Toshikazu Shinohara: Hypothesis verification boot camp supervision Chairman of the NPO Human Centered Design Promotion Organization We have entered an age of VUCA (*1), where predictions are impossible and logical approaches based on past data and experience alone are no longer effective. In order to arrive at the best answer through repeated trial and error of the “hypothesis”, we quickly develop the hypothesis (=Agile), and repeat verification and improvement based on the results obtained from post-release feedback (= DevOps) to continuously improve the value of your products. To this end, we offer a new human resource development program (learning true hypothesis testing through human-centered design) that allows you to efficiently practice skills to find more accurate objectives (business goals and product images). *1) VUCA: Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity ■Lecture 1: 11.22 (Friday) 10:30-11:10 | Inside the exhibition hall RoomE Hypothesis verification efforts in self-driving bus business ~ Introducing an example of “external HMI” for safe/secure/smooth “movement” ~ Image

This initiative, which was the first in the nation to achieve practical application, has developed measures that are close to local residents in order to gain their trust. These efforts can be viewed as a grand, community-wide hypothesis testing project. Furthermore, even in the era of self-driving cars,
communication between cars and road users is important, and external HMIs play a role in this. Because of the limitations of text and pictograms, research into interfaces that use facial expressions is expected to help communicate and provide a sense of security across age and language barriers. The highly visible facial expression unit conveys the vehicle’s intentions both day and night, and could be integrated with signal lights in the future to become a
next-generation transportation system. This article provides an overview of Sakai Town’s efforts to create a human-like optical interface for visual communication between road users and autonomous vehicles. Pre-registration:

While introducing the efforts of the human resource development program session “Hypothesis Verification Boot Camp” that will be held after this lecture (from 1:15 p.m. at the same venue), we will introduce human-centered design (mindset, skills, etc.) where you can systematically learn hypothesis verification. ) to discuss the importance of Pre-registration:

As users’ values shift from functional value to experiential value, the needs of users (other than developers themselves) are hypotheses, and the ability to verify them is important. “Hypothesis Verification Boot Camp” is a short-term intensive program that develops this ability, and supports the creation of new value through rapid hypothesis trial and error (using Agile and DevOps). The 59 participants received support from “hypothesis testing professionals” and learned human-centered design methods (user perspective, co-creation, new value, problem setting/discovery, solution exploration/creation, repetition). We will present the results of our experience.
