At that time, Trader Vic’s was already developing as an international restaurant in both name and reality. Founder Victor Bergeron was known for conducting careful market research around the world and proceeding with franchise agreements. The reason this contract was able to proceed so easily was because of the strong relationship of trust between Yoneichi Otani, second-generation president of Hotel New Otani, and Victor Bergeron, founder of Trader Vic’s. This bond has been passed on for 50 years and continues to this day.
